The Directors of the British School in Colombo, Sri Lanka, are seeking to appoint a Leader for Early Years (Playgroup – Reception) from August 2019.

A. THE SCHOOL
BSC was founded in 1994 and has a current population of 1400 students of 48 nationalities with 170 academic staff. BSC offers the English National Curriculum, with students entered for Cambridge IGCSE and A Levels.

B. EYFS Leader: RESPONSIBILITIES
The Early Years Leader will be responsible for leading a team of 9 teachers, 11 Teacher Assistants and 200 children. The EYFS Leader will not be class based in the first instance. We are seeking someone with a driving passion for the education of young children. Someone who can lead a complex and demanding section of the school, to raise standards, to develop teachers and to communicate effectively with parents. As an important member of the Middle Leaders team, the EYFS Leader will also play a vital and strategic role in the development of the Junior School. The EYFS Leader works closely with the Key Stage 1 Leader, the Deputy Head (Academic) and the Head of Junior School to provide the leadership and management needed to ensure the success of the school in fulfilling its mission.
C. EYFS LEADER (Playgroup to Reception) – PERSON SPECIFICATION
BSC is seeking to appoint a leading educationalist with the drive, energy, vision and dedication needed to lead this important part of this thriving, international school. The successful candidate will be a champion for Early Years education: they will have outstanding professional skills and personal qualities, with a record of high performance. The successful candidate will be enthusiastic, passionate and dedicated to Early Years education. We will be seeking accreditation under the British Schools Overseas framework and experience working with BSO standards would be a distinct advantage.
D. TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF THE APPOINTMENT
The initial contract offered to the successful candidate will be for two years, renewable thereafter by mutual agreement. The attractive compensation package will be commensurate with the responsibilities of the position.
