Job overview

We are looking for an outstanding EYFS class teacher with an excellent knowledge and understanding of the EYFS curriculum to join Joseph Clarke School for the visually impaired on a full time basis with effect from April 2017.

This is an exciting time to join as we are an expanding school and have just moved into a fantastic new building which is part of a redevelopment  programme.

As an EYFS Leader you will;

  • Ensure the implementation of the EYFS curriculum and the transition to the Key Stage 1 Curriculum
  • develop planning, assessment, recording and reporting systems appropriate to pupils working at both curriculum levels
  • develop the learning environment for all pupils within the EYFS
  • work with Family Support to further develop support and training for parents of young children at the school with SEN
  • promote an ethos of shared working and sharing successful practice across the school.

About Whitefield: Whitefield Academy Trust comprises two special schools for pupils aged 3 - 19, both situated in the London Borough of Waltham Forest (but attracting referrals from a much wider area). Joseph Clarke School provides specialist education for pupils with visual impairment and complex needs.

Whitefield Schools has an international reputation for expertise, resources and research reflected in its status as a Teaching School. The School provides specialist education for pupils with complex needs including communication and interaction difficulties. Together the schools have 450 pupil places.

Whitefield’s Research and Development Centre organises training for school staff and other professionals and offers Schools Direct placements. It also hosts an excellent library and an Outreach Service which supports pupils across 4 Local Authorities
