Job overview

Heathermount is a non-maintained specialist school in Ascot owned by the Disabilities Trust. The school provides education for children and young people aged between 4-19 years who have a diagnosis of an Autism Spectrum Condition and associated disorders. The school has recently received a ‘Good’ Ofsted inspection (Feb 2019) and has its Autism Accreditation mark. We are a forward thinking and ambitious school.

We are looking for a teacher who ideally has knowledge of supporting students with autism and is enthusiastic and passionate about teaching and learning. In addition, we are willing to upskill an outstanding teacher who has an interest in ASC. Our team of education and therapy staff help to provide a high-quality educational experience for our young people and a professional and extensive CPD programme for all staff.

If you have some experience of teaching children with an ASC diagnosis and a sound knowledge of the EYFS curriculum we would love to hear from you. Our Early Years Department aims to help our children develop as unique individuals who constantly learn, develop resilience and are capable and confident. The team enables the children to learn and develop through play in a school environment, adapting real world experiences tailored to support their individual needs. We are looking for creative, enthusiastic, nurturing and committed people to join our passionate team and support our young leaners through the start of school life.

Heathermount is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of its students. All positions are subject to receipt of a satisfactory Enhanced DBS check, Barred List check and references.

Visits and informal discussions are warmly welcomed and encouraged. Please contact Julie-Ann Stone on 01344 875101 ext 204 or by email to admin@heathermount.co.uk.

Closing date: Friday 6th December 2019

Interview date: Week beginning 9th December 2019

Building confidence & preparing students for life

We are an Independent sepecial school specialising in a broad and balanced education for children and young people aged between 5 and 18 years old with Autistic Spectrum Conditions.  We are a well resourced day school with excellent facilities.  Located within 14 acres of beautiful grounds in Ascot we make good use of our setting to improve students' well-being.  It is a calming environment to help manage anxieties.  Our class sizes are small (max 8 in Secondary).  Students follow a range of pathways, according to their individual needs and take qualifications ranging from ASDAN and Functional Skills through to Level 2 NVQ/BTEC and GCSEs.  Both core and vocational courses are available and students enjoy the opportunity to study business administration, catering and horticulture alongside more traditional subjects.

In summer 2021 we proudly achieved the highly regarded Advanced Autism Accreditation status as well as the Leading Parent Partnership Award (LPPA) and Wellbeing Award for Schools (WAS).  Our last Ofsted Report in February 2019 concluded that we are a good school with the potential to become outstanding in the near future and this is very much a focus for the whole staff.

Heathermount School is part of the Cavendish Education Group.
