Supported by the framework of the Pre-Senior Baccalaureate whilst also working towards Common Entrance examinations, we want our pupils to emerge as confident, enquiring, empathetic children with a real sense of who they are and what they want to be. 

This is a primarily term-time role for approximately 36 weeks of the year with the normal working hours being 08:00 -16:30 with one day per week until 17:30

Key Accountabilities

  • Assist in the support and education of pupils in the whole school
  • Raise pupil achievement by working with individual pupils or groups of pupils within and outside the classroom
  • Assist Class Teachers generally as directed within the classroom
  • Assist the wider school, on occasions, as directed 


Line Management

  • Responsible to the Headmaster through the SENCo and the Deputy Head (Teaching & Learning)


Teaching and Learning - tasks include:

  • Clarifying and explaining instructions
  • Ensuring that the pupils are able to use equipment and materials provided
  • Motivating and encouraging pupils
  • Help pupils to work as effectively as possible both in groups and independently


Preparation and Planning

  • Contribute ideas & suggestions to aid planning & topic work
  • Assist with the preparation of learning materials (photocopying etc.)
  • Attend staff meetings when requested
  • Attend staff INSET sessions and seek out training courses to support professional development 


Recording and Assessment

  • Use agreed systems for identifying, assessing, monitoring and reviewing pupil progress
  • Assess pupils as directed at an appropriate time
  • Help set targets for raising achievement with class teacher
  • Provide regular feedback to Class Teachers and the SENCo regarding pupils' educational and emotional progress
  • Help identify children who would benefit from either individual or small group tuition Keep accurate and detailed records
  • Maintain confidentiality
