Capital City Academy is seeking a professional and dedicated Assistant Facilities Manager with a passion for high standards of facilities management for our state-of-the-art building designed by leading architects Foster and Partners. 

The facilities and ICT teams have been individual departments in the past, with the former also being outsourced in recent years.  Our new strategy is to build a professional, supportive, friendly and self-sufficient in-house Facilities/ ICT team that works closely together to provide the essential support a large and evolving academy requires.  The team requires an  Assistant Facilities Manager who will lead in building excellent relationships with a variety of contractors, who will need to deliver various services according to agreed service level agreements and manage basic repairs and in-house set ups for academic events. 

The successful candidate will be a leader, be reflective, self-motivated, adaptable and innovative in bringing about financial efficiencies to the facilities management function.  They will share the school’s vision and the belief that Capital City Academy will provide an exceptional environment to promote a passion for learning and discovery, enabling all learners to succeed and fully understand the importance of the facilities department in achieving this aim. 

Specific Duties:

  • Assist the Facilities Management team in management of property and services
  • Carry out regular inspections of properties, works completed and service contracts.
  • Completing regular property inspection audits in line with Management agreements
  • Delivering Health and Safety compliance
  • Ensuring planned maintenance and reactive repair requirements are undertaken.
  • Maintain good tenant relationships as the first point of contact with appropriate representatives and encourage good communication of information on portfolio issues.
  • Ensure Health and Safety, Emergency procedures and safe working practices are managed correctly.
  • Take the lead of admin duties in order to support the efficient running of the building
  • Support with the management of annual service charge budget across the portfolio

You will be:

  • Prior experience in a property/building management and managing contractors
  • Excellent communication and Customer Service skills, with high standards of planning and organisation.
  • Ability to offer practical support to the maintenance operative around the school
  • Knowledge of management systems
  • Have experience in a similar role within an education setting and looking to accept more responsibility
  • have the capacity to learn and develop additional skills in the role
  • desire to take pride in our high specification building
