We are looking for a responsible, hands-on Facilities Manager to join our fantastic team at Higford, Shropshire .  As Facilities Manager, you will help support our children and young people in their daily lives, by ensuring our sites are well maintained and equipped to meet their needs.

This is a great opportunity to work as part of a team committed to helping children with varied and complex needs. Managing our maintenance team, you will take pride in maintaining our school, from day to day repairs to completing risk assessments, carrying out security procedures, checking equipment and contributing to school development projects.

For many of our children, consistency is key, and our Facilities Managers and their teams take time to make sure everything is as it should be for us to run smoothly and safely.

When it comes to looking after our children, we never settle for second best. We are looking for a Facilities Manager who shares our vision to build incredible futures by empowering vulnerable young people in the UK, to be happy and to make their way in the world.

We are looking for someone with Facilities Management experience as well as a strong understanding of risk assurance, health & safety and building regulations. These roles are ideal for people with skills in maintenance, DIY and health and safety, looking for a new role that makes a real difference to children’s lives and futures.

You will be quality focused, efficient, able to work at pace, and motivated to help us provide a safe, caring environment where every child can thrive.

Options Higford offers care and education to children with autistic spectrum condition, challenging behaviour and additional complex difficulties. Our bespoke, person centred service can cater for residential stays of up to 52 weeks per year and can offer day or residential education placements. Each child has the same access to the facilities, clinical team and exceptional staffing levels to support them in developing confidence and skills to enjoy their childhood and prepare them for adulthood.

Higford is a DfE registered School, offering day and residential placements and has achieved Autism Accreditation with the National Autistic Society for Quality Autism provision. We offer adapted and differentiated access to the National Curriculum for students at key stage 2-4, supplemented by ASDAN programmes ‘New Horizons’ and ‘Transition Challenge’. We offer an exceptional range of activities and amenities designed to promote the development of life skills and apply learning across a range of contexts. These include:

  • Classrooms designed specifically for young people with autism and complex needs
  • A ‘Sensory Hub’ made up of a range of different sensory rooms in which      students can explore new sensory experiences and take control of their      environments, including a water play room, wellbeing room, sensory room,      health hub (incorporating sauna and gym) and soft play room
  • A sports hall and ball-court for PE and sporting activities
  • A bistro area for shared dining
  • Outdoor facilities including a sunken trampoline, playground, climbing-frame,      swings and extensive grounds where students can engage in adventurous      physical activity

Our multi-disciplinary team approach offers a holistic service based on sound knowledge and understanding of autism and what works in supporting learning for people with Autism and additional needs. Our clinical team is based on-site and includes speech and language therapy, occupational therapy, psychology and nursing services. We offer a high ratio of staff to pupils, generally 1:1 support provided with a class of up to 5 students. All staff have comprehensive training, focusing on the specialist knowledge necessary to support the complex needs of our students.

We aim to ensure we support the development of young people who are: happy and confident with a positive self-esteem, able to learn independently and cooperatively, independent and sociable, able to communicate their feelings, wishes and needs and are able to make choices, manage their own behaviour and enjoy life.
