Melton Mowbray is a rural market town in Leicestershire which is easily commutable from Grantham, Leicester, Loughborough, Nottingham and Oakham.

We have an exciting opportunity for an Apprentice Trust Facilities Operations Officer to join the Estates Team. The role provides the opportunity to develop skills and experience of working within Facilities Management and gaining a Level 2 qualification.

This role is fixed term for a period of up to 15 months or until the apprenticeship is completed, whichever is sooner – (this is subject to a satisfactory 6-month probationary period).

The Level 2 Facilities Service Operative apprenticeship takes approximately 15 months to complete and will involve both on the job and off the job training, supported by a local training provider.

At the end of the apprenticeship, you will be able to apply for any vacancies available at the time.

Role

You will be required to work 37 hours per week including some evenings and weekends all year round.   There will be a split between working within the Facilities function (80%) and having allocated time to complete your course (20%). You will have GCSE English and Maths at Grade 4 (C) or above and have good communication and problem-solving skills.

The role of Trust Facilities Operations Officer will involve working across several different areas including:

  • Ensuring the estate remains compliant with legislation.
  • Ensuring the estate remains in a good state of repair, particularly in terms of structure, fabric and finishes.
  • Ensuring the estate is secure and safe for staff, pupils and visitors.
  • Monitoring the Estates Inbox and reacting to any maintenance requests.

About you

Excellent interpersonal skills and physical fitness, attention to detail and a ‘can do’ approach is key to delivering the requirements of this challenging and rewarding, customer focussed role.   You will need to have a full driving licence, good IT skills and a flexible approach to your working hours.

Further information

The remuneration package includes a competitive salary, contributory public-sector pension scheme and a generous annual leave entitlement:

  • Actual Salary £8301 per annum in the first year (£4.30 per hour – National Minimum Wage for Apprentices) -rising in the second year to age related National Minimum Wage/National Living Wage).
  • Local Government Pension Scheme membership
  • 31 days’ annual leave per year including public holidays

Application deadline – midnight on Tuesday 30th November 2021.

Start date – as soon as possible.

For an informal chat please contact Bill Jack, Lead Estates Manager on (01664) 504802.
