Job overview

REQUIRED FOR SEPTEMBER 2020

This is a rare opportunity within a forward thinking independent school for a highly motivated and inspirational teacher of Maths to lead our Faculty as we embark on an exciting phase of curriculum development within Talbot Heath.

The students at Talbot Heath School are superb, being well motivated and inquisitive, and enjoying an equal emphasis of importance across both our creative and academic curriculum.

Our students achieve excellent results year on year, with 80% of our students achieving an A Grade at A-Level Mathematics in 2019.

Owing to the retirement of our longstanding Head of Faculty, Talbot Heath are seeking someone with vision, knowledge, skill and enthusiasm to lead this well-established department, teaching from Year 7 to A level. An ability to teach Further Mathematics at A level is essential. This subject area is seen as one of the strengths of this very successful school, with many students taking Mathematics and Further Mathematics at A level.

This role would be suited to an ambitious and creative individual, keen to inspire a love of Mathematics in our young people.

Talbot Heath is an independent girls’ school for ages 3-18 set in pleasant grounds in Bournemouth, with an outstanding academic record. As an employee you will enjoy the benefits of working in a peaceful woodland setting, yet only a short distance from the busy town centre, free on site parking, reduced membership to local health club plus  other staff benefits.

Exam results count, but just as important are resilience, self-esteem, character, those life skills that are acquired as a result of a nurturing environment and an holistic approach to education.

It is during their formative years that young people develop the attitudes and values that they will hold for the rest of their lives. It is essential that they feel supported and nurtured in their learning environment.

At Talbot Heath the pupils flourish, not only academically but in every area, be it music, sport or the performing arts. Small classes, individual attention and the ability to tailor the provision to the needs of each student, ensure that pupils achieve their very best.

As the only Independent Girls’ School within the Bournemouth and wider Dorset area, Talbot Heath is unique. We are proud of our distinctive character and believe that we have stayed true to Mary Broad’s vision of first class education for girls with a modern twist.
