We are looking for an enthusiastic Faculty Leader for our PE department. Whilst experience in a special school is desirable it is not essential. However, a clear commitment to meeting the needs of individual pupils with SEND needs is. Our goal is to provide high quality personalised learning for pupils so they achieve their personal best.

Applicants from Primary and Secondary backgrounds are welcome.

We are looking for an innovative, enthusiastic and experienced PE Lead Teacher to join our team. The successful candidate will demonstrate a real interest in making a difference to the lives of pupils with special needs. This role is a second tier middle leadership role and the successful candidate will have a key role in developing an innovative curriculum suited to meeting the needs of our diverse school population, both when in school and for their ‘Life Beyond Meadow’. The successful candidate will play a key role in developing and promoting this vision within the PE department and as a middle leader ensuing that opportunities for embedding independence across the school are provided and capitalised on.

Meadow High School is a large Special Needs school for secondary aged school pupils aged from 11 to 19. We currently have 257 pupils, the school’s success was highlighted in our last Ofsted Report (May 2018). The school has recently moved into a new building and we are in the process of planning a further new build to ensure that the building provides a safe and nurturing environment for all pupils.

All pupils at Meadow work within pathways of pupils with comparable needs. At the core our vision for Meadow is for us to ensure that all our pupils develop transferable skills for life, have opportunities to develop work related learning skills and develop the highest level of personal independence possible. This vision is driving our curriculum development.

Meadow ethos is to ensure that all pupils thrive in a safe and secure learning environment. Many pupils at Meadow are on the autistic spectrum and have associated sensory and communication needs. Meadow has its own therapy team including Occupational Therapists, Speech and Language Therapists and a Physiotherapist. As a school we are developing better ways to support our pupils to access learning by embedding a therapeutic approach to aspects of teaching and learning across the school. We believe that every learner's needs are central to our model of teaching and that every pupil shapes a lesson.

If you are an established teacher who is seeking a new and exciting opportunity with SEN pupils, have real interest in PE and want to develop your leadership skills then this could be a perfect opportunity for you.
