Hours: 36 hours per week, term time plus two weeks

Location: Addington Valley Academy, Field Way, New Addington, Croydon

Contract: Fixed term for Academic year 23-24 in the first instance with the possibility of extension or permanent contract as the school grows further.

We are currently seeking a Family Support Assistant to join our dynamic and committed staff team. You will be responsible for family liaison, which will include initial contact with students, parents and carers and will be maintained throughout their time at College/Academy School through to their identified progression route.

The right person for this job will have:

·        The ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of people including students with mild and severe learning difficulties.

·        Commitment to the safeguarding of children and vulnerable adults.

·        The ability to maintain confidentiality.

·        The ability to prioritise and organise own workload.

Addington Valley Academy is special Free School in Croydon for children and young people with autism and learning difficulties. The school opened in 2020 and provides 150 places for children and young people aged 2-19 who have autism and social communication, cognitive, sensory and social, emotional, and behavioural needs.

The new purpose designed school is equipped to meet the needs of students and includes sensory gardens, indoor sensory rooms, soft-play area, and a large cookery room along with other facilities to encourage students to learn skills to live independently. Students access specialist support enabling them to learn and achieve in a nurturing and aspirational environment.
