Job overview

Rethinking education, helping tomorrow’s citizens flourish.

Drawing upon our partnership with the University of Birmingham and their world-leading research and best-practice resources, focusing on learning without limits, and combining our own diverse experience in education, the University of Birmingham School is setting an example of what’s truly possible for secondary school education – one that gives character development as much attention as academic success.

We have a career opportunity for a Family Support Worker motivated by and responsible for supporting children, young people, and families with complex needs in a mainstream school setting. Your role will involve working with a caseload of pupils and students to best support their needs both within and beyond school, including within the family home and externally.

Relevant experience is preferable, but an empathetic mind-set to foster aspiration and excellence are essential. There may be an opportunity for the right candidate to take on a key role within the Safeguarding team as one of our Designated DSLs further supporting families within our school community, and as CPD for you. Training would be provided for this.

The University of Birmingham School in Selly Oak serves 1180 pupils and students aged 11-18. We celebrate and are proud of our diverse and inclusive School community, which sets out deliberately to be representative of the city.

We will have high expectations of you to be an outstanding role model committed to the distinctive ethos of our School. In return, we will recognise your contribution through an enhanced package of pay and benefits subject to performance.
