About the role

  • To support pupils and their families in school, community and home settings and provide regular ongoing assistance to support inclusion 
  • To provide a friendly, approachable and confidential point of contact for families 
  • To provide support for staff in the school, particularly when dealing with challenging or vulnerable pupils and families. 
  • To co-ordinate EHAs in school for families within and connected to our school. 
  • To co-ordinate school support for families within school and liaise with other agencies to offer support for them. 
  • Work alongside the inclusion team and teachers to write Individual Plans for children and monitor and evaluate impact.
  • Work with and direct individual and small groups of pupils to support them with resilience, self-esteem, emotions and protective behaviours.
  • To provide support for pupils and their families at times of crisis, signposting support services, making referrals to supporting agencies and working with the families and other professionals to safeguard the children.

Who we are looking for

GSCE Maths and English (or equivalent)

ICT Literate

Knowledge of safeguarding and child protection

Excellent organisational skills and ability to maintain an organised and professional working environment

Ability to work in partnership with children and families and also with other agencies and professionals.

Ability to communicate effectively with children and families in individual and group settings

Ability to maintain accurate records and produce concise and informative reports

Good ICT skills

CPD Programmes

Challenge for Outstanding Level 1 – This course is aimed at teachers who would like their teaching to be consistently graded as ‘good’ over time.

Challenge for Outstanding Level 2 – This course is aimed at teachers whose teaching is judged to be good and aspire to be consistently graded as ‘outstanding’ over time.

We also offer a comprehensive leadership and management programme.

Middle Leaders – We deliver an in-house programme for those who wish to become middle leaders or are new to the role. More experienced middle leaders have the opportunity to study the NPQML which is delivered in partnership with Ambitions School Leadership.

Senior Leaders and Aspirant Senior Leaders – We work with Ambitions School Leadership to develop the skills of our aspirant senior leaders and those new to senior leadership through the NPQSL programme. This ensures that we are developing the very best Head Teachers and Senior Leaders of the future. We continuously invest in our Leaders and Managers to develop their skills and experience and improve their internal promotion prospects, this year 85 colleagues will be attending our Leadership and Management Programmes across the Trust.
