About the role

Permanent, Part time - Term Time

32.5 hrs per week Monday to Friday, 39 weeks per year

  • To be a Designated Safeguarding Lead and ensure safeguarding is at the heart of all decisions
  • To support pupils and their families in school, community and home settings and provide regular ongoing assistance to support inclusion
  • To provide a friendly, approachable and confidential point of contact for families
  • To provide support for staff (including the headteacher) in the school, particularly when dealing with challenging or vulnerable pupils and families
  • To co-ordinate and complete EHAs in school for families within and connected to our school
  • To co-ordinate school support for families within school and liaise with other agencies to offer support for them
  • To follow schools’ policy on safeguarding and attend safeguarding meetings as required.
  • To establish positive relationships with pupils and families
  • To support parents and carers to develop parenting skills and promote children’s wellbeing, emotional and social development
  • To liaise with parents and staff regarding pupils’ pastoral concerns
  • To develop and enhance parental and carer engagement with the school and other agencies
  • To promote positive pupil behaviour in line with school policies and help keep pupils on task
  • To provide appropriate individual/small group interventions for pupils who require additional support for behaviour or social and emotional needs
  • To promote and monitor attendance.

Who we are looking for:

  •  A professional qualification relevant to the post such as social work, teaching, youth work or other relevant qualification
  • GCSE English and Mathematics (or equivalent).
  • A relevant Degree
  • Training in relevant parenting programme i.e. 123 magic, Triple P, Solihull etc.
  • Other relevant courses i.e. Protective behaviours, Drawing and talking, baby massage etc.
  • First Aid qualification
