Could you be a teacher in Greig City Academy’s Physical Education Faculty? We are seeking to appoint an inspirational and enthusiastic Female P.E. Teacher to join a highly successful and highly motivated faculty in our school.  As part of this collegial and dedicated team you will be instrumental in inspiring and motivating our students.

Our forward-thinking Faculty takes a collaborative and supportive approach to the development of its staff and you will play a key role in continuing to raise standards. A willingness to contribute to the outstanding and nationally-recognised extra-curricular activity of the thriving P.E. Department is essential.  This post is equally suitable for an NQT or for a more experienced teacher wishing to move to another school setting.

PE Faculty Vision

The PE Faculty is a positive, cohesive and forward-thinking faculty that builds physical and mental resilience and well-being and promotes a love of learning. It:

• values extra-curricular sessions as highly as core PE sessions, where each member of the team makes significant contributions to our extra-curricular offering.

• is driven to ensuring every student can attain excellence in sport regardless of their starting point.

• is committed to making GCA a recognised hub of sporting excellence locally, nationally, and internationally, creating pathways into sport outside of and beyond school.

The PE Faculty at GCA strives for sporting excellence at local, regional and national level. We are committed to maintaining high levels of sports participation and therefore we offer a variety of extra-curricular clubs such as Dance, Rounders, Athletics, Boxing, Football, Basketball, Badminton, Netball, Trampolining and Fitness Club.

Our sports teams compete at the highest possible levels and we provide additional opportunities to participate in sports tours. We have a range of teams who have experienced regional and national success, most recently our Dance (KS4) and Basketball (U18) teams were crowned National Champions. Our dedicated faculty team has a wealth of experience and specialisms. Students from our Dance team were recently selected to represent Team GB at this year’s Dance World Cup.

Working at GCA

The school boasts a really positive and supportive relationship between managers and staff and between colleagues, and between staff and pupils. Paul Sutton, our Principal, encourages teachers to have an impact beyond their subject and he is always available and happy to discuss ideas with you as to how this can be achieved. Ours is a caring and well-ordered environment in which all students can enjoy learning, develop inquiring minds and acquire the skills and knowledge they need for a changing world.  Every day we see the results of our efforts in students who work responsibly and with consideration for others – they are the best ambassadors for the school.

The personal development of all our staff is highly valued at GCA and we offer the opportunity to apply for our Learning Award of up to £2,400 per year for your continued professional development or other skills and talents. This is in addition to the school’s ongoing CPD programme. Other benefits staff can opt into include a cycle to work scheme and an interest-free annual season ticket loan.

GCA has a commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and has safer recruitment procedures in place for the selection of staff. It is committed to the principle of equal opportunities; we welcome all applicants and value the diversity they bring.

Please download the application form via the school’s website http://www.greigcityacademy.co.uk/451/vacancy-details  and email your completed application to voxley@greigcityacademy.co.uk.
