Job overview

We are seeking to appoint a qualified Finance Manager ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent post qualification experience in a senior finance role. Experience working within the education/not for profit sector would be advantageous but not essential.This is a challenging yet interesting role that requires a hands on finance professional as the Finance Manager is integral to overseeing, leading and managing the College’s accounting function from end to end.  

As the Finance Manager it is an essential criteria that you will have the ability to work with multiple priorities, under pressure, to strict deadlines and to prioritise own workload. Have excellent IT literacy including intermediate to advanced Excel skills, as well as strong analytical skills and attention to detail. Be able to lead a team and to manage the Finance Department independently. Excellent interpersonal skills with an ability to motivate, work collaboratively and relate to people at all levels. Be a self-starter with strong time management, organisational and planning skills. 

Oversee all month and year end procedures for all ledgers and administer the College payroll, including PAYE, National insurance and compliance with regulations in relation to benefits in kind. Administer pension schemes, cash flow and expenditure and assist with cost savings projects to identify opportunities for improved cost control. Manage the College Fixed Asset Register, budgeting, forecasting and oversee the financial aspects of all contracts. Produce monthly management accounts and reports for use by senior management and governors, detailed variance analysis and forecasts to the end of the year. Oversee the production of the year end statutory accounts to prescribed regulatory standards and prepare the financial records for the annual audit. To advise on and monitor compliance in all matters relating to taxation, including VAT, corporation tax and benefits in kind, including liaising with professional advisors as required.

This is a full time, year round position. Working hours are 35 per week, Monday to Friday but flexibility will be required to attend occasional evening meetings.
