Job overview

THE ROLE

We are currently seeking a dedicated Finance Officer to join a small and friendly finance team at our Multi-Academy Trust. The Finance Officer will support our academies and budget holders with purchasing and the provision of financial data relating to their budgets. You will also support the Financial Controller in the daily processing of financial transactions for the Trust.

WHO WE ARE

Future Academies is a Multi-Academy Trust that includes three primary schools and seven secondary schools in and around London and Hertfordshire. We are motivated by a mission of social change and reducing educational inequality. We are unique in our approach to a knowledge-rich curriculum – our school motto is Libertas per cultum (Freedom through education) – and in our strong emphasis on raising young people’s aspirations and outcomes through the teaching of classical and traditional subjects. Our children and young people study a bespoke curriculum developed by researchers at our Curriculum Centre, which places a focus on developing their cultural literacy and their awareness of the forces, words and events that have shaped our society today.

THE BENEFITS

  • The chance to make a difference to children’s and young people’s lives. Future Academies is of the belief that all children have the right to enriching education through a knowledge-rich and child-centric approach: our teachers can therefore make a dramatic impact on the lives of these children.
  • Fast career progression. Because knowledge and intelligence, rather than length of service, are lauded and rewarded at Future Academies, teachers and support staff can quickly take up great responsibility, adding to their already exceptional experience and knowledge.
  • Excellent CPD. The Trust is knowledge-centric and encourages CPD at all levels with excellent opportunities for swift career progression, within the Academy and Trust. This includes Leadership Development opportunities.
  • Knowledge-rich staff team. You will be working with supportive leadership teams, a cohesive staff body, and a very purposeful environment with excellent resources. Being part of a Trust of schools enables you to share knowledge across a wider range of educational professionals.

You will also receive a competitive salary and generous holiday entitlements alongside perks such as a season ticket loan and pension scheme, access to the government-backed Cycle to Work scheme, and access to over 200 different perks via our employee benefits platform, Perkbox.

About Future Academies

‘Freedom Through Education’

Future Academies is a Multi-Academy Trust, established in 2008 and sponsored by Lord and Lady Nash’s charity, Future. Future Academies was founded with the aim of improving the life chances and raising the aspirations of young people. The Trust’s motto, ‘Libertas per Cultum’ (‘Freedom through Education’), is the clearest distillation of Future Academies’ vision for education: to grant students freedom from deprivation, prejudice or ignorance, as well as to endow them with the freedom to question, to choose, and to excel.

To achieve these goals, the Trust believes in the power of a first-rate, knowledge-rich curriculum: such an education is the best foundation for helping young people to succeed and overcome social barriers, irrespective of their backgrounds or starting points.

Future Academies currently comprises ten schools, across London and Hertfordshire. It also has its own Curriculum Centre, where researchers develop high-quality curriculum resources which are designed with knowledge at their heart, and which give young people access to the best that has been thought, known and said.

Since its formation in 2008, the Trust has carefully selected its projects, taking on the running of failing schools and turning them around. Working with young people who are often materially and socially deprived, Future Academies seeks to provide a first-rate education and to raise ambitions at all its schools. Their aim is for young people to leave their schools ready to take their place in the world - well-educated, motivated and with strong leadership skills, personally accomplished and determined to make a positive and lasting contribution to the world they step into. They firmly believe that a child’s background should not be a barrier to success and those who work for the Trust are committed to delivering an education that broadens students’ horizons in a truly transformative way.
