Job overview

Part time position

Three days per week

Wetherby Kensington is currently looking for a forward-thinking, inspirational and enthusiastic floating teacher to join our team from September 2019 or as soon after as possible.

This is an exciting opportunity for a qualified, imaginative and driven teacher who works with equal efficacy independently and as part of a team. The floating teacher will support our Head of Learning Support and class teachers in the planning and delivery of the boys’ learning across all levels. The role will involve working across all year groups within the school. The floating teacher will take maths and English interventions as well as teaching some topic lessons. The successful candidate will be an inspirational teacher who is patient, hardworking and committed to providing high quality learning.

Experience of teaching in EYFS, Key Stage 1 or 2 is essential as is a thorough up-to-date knowledge and experience of the curriculum. What is also important is your ability to interact and support children in a positive way to foster their enthusiasm for learning and to have the skills and maturity required to take on the teaching duties and responsibilities in a new school. Experience and an interest in special educational needs would be desirable.

Wetherby Kensington is a two form, non-selective, pre-preparatory school for boys from Reception to Year 3. It follows exactly the same curriculum and shares the same values and ethos as Wetherby School and is an integral part of the Wetherby Group of schools. Boys at Wetherby Kensington receive very high levels of academic education and pastoral care. Wetherby Kensington is part of the Alpha Plus Group of schools, which is one of the country's leading educational groups.

The Alpha Plus Group has its own salary scale, which is above the Central London Maintained Scale. A salary at the appropriate point on the Teachers’ scale will be offered to the successful candidate and will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.

Wetherby Kensington is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and expects all staff to share this commitment. The protection of our students’ welfare is the responsibility of all Wetherby Kensington staff and individuals are expected to conduct themselves in a way that reflects the principles of our organisation. The successful applicant will be subject to an enhanced DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) clearance along with other relevant pre-employment checks. References will be taken up and carefully checked.

We are committed to equality of opportunity for all staff and applications from individuals are encouraged regardless of age, disability, sex, gender reassignment, sexual orientation, pregnancy and maternity, race, religion or belief and marriage and civil partnerships.
