Food Studies Technician - Job Share (12.00 - 3.00 Monday - Friday)

The Astley Cooper SchoolHertfordshire

We are seeking to appoint a suitably qualified Food Studies Technician.  Food Studies plays a vital part in the secondary school curriculum and the subject is highly valued by parents and students at the school.  It is an extremely popular subject in which students achieve outstanding results.

At present, the department teaches Food Studies to all KS3 students and Vocational Award Hospitality and Catering to students in Years 10 and 11.  There is a large practical component to all the teaching.

The post involves the preparation of lesson materials, including online shopping, maintenance of equipment, stock taking and storage of equipment.  You will need to be flexible, have good IT skills and be able to work as a member of a team.  Previous experience as a Food Studies Technician or other role in a school environment would be an advantage.  Training is available for the successful candidate.

The ideal candidate will have experience of working within a catering or similar environment, have a minimum standard of GCSE grade C (or equivalent) in English and maths, a working knowledge of basic food preparation techniques and a passion for working with food.

The Astley Cooper School is an increasingly popular and academically successful school. We are part of the East Dacorum Co-operative Learning Trust and are looking forward to a multi-million-pound new build as part of the Government’s Priority School Building Programme.
