Job overview

We have an opportunity to join the Foundation Maths and English team at Exeter College, to support delivery of GCSE English to our 16-18 learners. The faculty of Foundation Maths and English is a team that prides itself on a central ethos of engagement, empathy and progress for all our learners.


We are looking to appoint a part time coach/mentor to provide support sessions with our resit learners across our key curriculum area. In this role, you will work either 1:1 or in small groups, with learners recommended for extra support by our GCSE team of lecturers. These sessions will be scheduled to occur outside of the learners’ timetabled classes at college, so a degree of flexibility will be required.


This role is a new development within the faculty and will provide a rich, varied mentoring experience alongside the opportunity to work across several faculties in the college. Full support and training will be provided, alongside use of our shared resources that are created in-house by our subject expert teams.


The College was awarded grade 1 in the Ofsted inspection in 2014 and has maintained results above the national average in subsequent years. The FME team is currently based on the main college site on Hele Rd and we generally deliver classes to groups of students based in the faculty of their main curriculum subject. You will be joining a welcoming, professional, supportive team with a strong commitment to sharing ideas and resources.


We will be seeking to appoint a coach/mentor with the greatest ability, enthusiasm and commitment to excellence with our learners.


Successful applicants will be required to undertake an enhanced disclosure by the DBS.
