With the population steadiliy growing in the region, St Ann’s School is a BCE master planned primary school opening in 2020. Launching with Prep to Year 3 and growing by one year level at a time until it reaches Year 6, it is envisioned that St Ann’s will be a four-stream school catering for 780 students. 


The Principal, St Ann’s School leads the religious life of the school and builds a vibrant Catholic identity within the school community within the St Francis Xavier Parish. With a degree of autonomy that only comes with building a school “from the ground up”, you’ll thrive as you grow the engagement, progress, achievement and well as you grow a sustainable school community, ensuring stewardship of resources with transparency, accountability and compliance within BCE.


BCE is seeking a school leader with solid experience in bringing innovative thinking to meet new challenges within a system environment. Modelling and fostering a commitment to the safeguarding of children and promote a culture where student protection is the responsibility of everyone is essential.


Applicants for this role must meet the following essential eligibility criteria:

  • be a committed, practicing Catholic, or in an ecumenical school a committed practising member of one of the faith traditions represented in that Ecumenical school;
  • hold, or be eligible to hold, registration as a teacher in Queensland;
  • have educational leadership and/or administrative experience;
  • Postgraduate qualifications at a Masters-level in Religious Education, Theology or Christian Leadership or a commitment to complete study to attain such a qualification.


Successful applicants who are new to principalship in Brisbane Catholic Education will be supported through a professional learning plan to be undertaken in the first two to four years of employment. For new appointees who do not have Masters-level qualifications in Religious Education, Theology or Christian Leadership, the professional learning plan will include support to reach the equivalent of a Masters-level qualification.


Estimated Start Date: Mid Year 2019 

Initial Contract Period: Initial 4 year contract phase with a further 8 years subject to satisfactory performance in the role 

Classified Salary and Range: Currently $147,890 to $161,798 gross per annum plus super

School of Special Character Allowance: Not applicable 

Campus: Primary -  Fifth Year predicted enrolments 515
