For the 2017-2018 School Year

Qatar Foundation is seeking an exceptional educational leader with experience in starting up and operating STEM schools to serve as the founding Director of the STEM School.

Effective Date: August 1, 2017  

The incoming Director would have the 2017-2018 school year to work with the steering committee to plan and develop the concept for the school with an expected opening date for the first cohort group of September 2018.

The Director will be responsible for all aspects of the school’s operation and will be responsible for the establishment refinement, revision and implementation of the school’s strategic vision. A detailed description of the position including qualifications, attributes and responsibilities is included at the end of this document.

School Vision

Through STEM education, students apply the principles of mathematics and science learned through hands-on and minds-on activities to the real world around them. STEM education fosters fun with a purpose, reasoning skills, curiosity, perseverance, and inquisitiveness.

The vision for this school would be to identify the best young minds in Qatar who have an affinity for STEM, provide them with rich, authentic, and challenging learning opportunities to create the problem solvers of the future. During grades 9 and 10 students will study for internationally recognized qualifications in STEM subjects alongside key, non-STEM courses. Project-based learning will be a central feature. During Grades 11 and 12 students will undertake their own research in collaboration with external partners on a STEM theme whilst preparing for application to the World’s top STEM universities.
