A passionate, dedicated and committed freelance teacher of the LAMDA Speech and Drama Acting Syllabus, is required from September 2023, to deliver the programme at a The Cedars School in Upper Norwood. The children range from ages 11 – 18. The school teaches drama in the curriculum to the 1st and 2nd form and there may be scope within the role to contribute to this teaching.

The ideal candidate will be able to commit to the full academic year (approximately 30 lessons throughout the academic year 2023/24) hold an enhanced DBS and be on the update service which allows them to work across multiple schools. You must be able to demonstrate a sound understanding of the LAMDA performance and communication exams as interview questions will be focused on these areas. Questions will also be asked regarding the safeguarding of children.

The days and times worked can be organised by negotiation with the performing arts department and the rate of pay is £21.50 per 30-minute lesson. As this is a self-employed position, you will invoice parents directly. The number of lessons taught will depend on parent demand.

Key skills for this role:

·        Sound knowledge and delivery of the LAMDA Acting Syllabus

·        An excellent rapport with children and the ability to engage and inspire

·        A passion for your subject

·        A sound knowledge of performance skills and a wide knowledge of suitable scripts for children

·        Excellent communication skills

The recruitment process will comprise an interview and a lesson observation lasting 30 minutes.
