
French Language Assistant

Abingdon School is an outstanding independent school for boys aged 11 to 18 conveniently situated in a beautiful area near Oxford, UK. The Modern Languages department wishes to appoint two enthusiastic, well-organised and engaging fluent French Language Assistants to teach motivated Fifth and Sixth formers for the academic year 2021/2022, from the 1st of September 2021 to the 8th of July 2022.
The successful candidates will work to develop pupils’ spoken French skills and appreciation of Francophone cultures, as well as playing an integral role in their preparation for public examinations. The French department follows the Cambridge IGCSE and Pre-U syllabi. The persons appointed will demonstrate genuine enthusiasm for the subject, will strive to inspire and motivate our pupils, and play an important role in promoting French across the School.
This post is term time only (34 weeks). Term time is defined as the published school calendar dates. You will also be required for staff training on INSET days prior to the start of term. Assistants teach 18 hours per week and are expected to be in school before 9am until 5pm each day for preparation, teaching and other tasks as set by the Head of French.
