Bilborough College Nottingham

Language Assistant – French - Part-time, 6 hours/week Term Time Only

Fixed Term from 1 September 2017 – 31 May 2018

£439.50 per month

Speaking languages is a key part of the examination process and so the role of the Language Assistant is vital to the students’ development and progress.

The salary for this position will be £439.50 per month, based on 6 hours per week, term time only. These hours are likely to be spread across 2 days to allow students more flexibility with their timetables, especially in the run up to exams. The days and times of your working hours will be as agreed with your manager, in line with the department needs. Flexibility will therefore be required.

The Language and Humanities Faculty is managed by the Head of Faculty, along with Course Leaders who have responsibility for individual curriculum areas.

The teaching of Modern Languages is supported by a wealth of high quality resource material and the department works closely as a team. The subjects are currently delivered in a suite of teaching rooms with networked PC access and electronic whiteboard facilities in every room. There is a well-equipped language laboratory which is used by all students weekly.

Should you be successful at the shortlisting stage you will be invited to interview on Monday 3rd July 2017 and we would aim to contact you by the end of Tuesday 27th June. Part of the interview process will involve you engaging 4-5 students of A Level French in a 10-15 minute speaking session on a topic of your choice related to French Youth Culture. You will be expected to deliver this in the target language and encourage students to speak in French during the session.

We are a Sixth Form College with a diverse student community. 25% of our current students are from black or minority ethnic backgrounds and we are committed to constantly adapting to meet their needs. We expect the successful candidate to have a commitment to high standards and hard work to support the curriculum in securing high quality outcomes for all students, and be able to interact effectively with students of different cultures and socio-economic backgrounds. We particularly welcome applications from black and minority ethnic candidates as they are under-represented within our staff.

The College is committed to the Children's Act and all successful appointments will be subject to Barred List and DBS clearance (formerly CRB).

This vacancy is only open to candidates who are eligible/have the right to work in the UK. Original documentation will be required as evidence.

To request an application form in an alternative format, please contact the HR Assistant on 0115 851 5861.

Closing date: Midnight Monday 26th June 2017.

Interviews will be held on Monday 3rd July 2017.
