Runnymede College is a private non-denominational British school in Madrid offering a British education to boys and girls of all nationalities from the age of two to eighteen. The education offered follows the British National Curriculum.

Founded as a private school in September 1967, the primary school was inaugurated in 1987, and since 1990, the whole School has been situated in La Moraleja, a residential estate 13 km to the north of Madrid.

Academic levels are high at Runnymede College. In June 2021, 74% of our students achieved A-A* at A Level, which meant two of our pupils gained places at Oxford, two at St Andrews, three at LSE, four at Imperial College, five at Bath and nine at UCL. Four of this year’s graduates are going on to study at the United States: one at Columbia, one at Pennsylvania and two at Boston University. Most of our graduates choose to study in the UK, Spain or the US, although other destinations such as France, Switzerland and the Netherlands are also considered.

The school is looking to recruit a bilingual (native level English speaking) Front Office Assistant.

The chosen candidate will become a key member of this busy administrative team.

Responsibilities (among others):   

  • Complete management and administration of the reception   
  • Complex calendar management for the administrative team   
  • Acting as the “face” of the school and as the first point of contact for parents, students, prospective parents and any visitors   
  • Managing the switchboard and directing calls appropriately in both English and Spanish   
  • Representing the school and behaving in line with school ethos and traditional values   
  • Troubleshooting requests via telephone and email in both English and Spanish   
  • Assisting the administrative team (admissions, bursar etc.) with a range of tasks when required   
  • Receiving and shipping letters, courier packages and managing deliveries   
  • Acting as the “go to” person   
  • Updating the school attendance register with absences, late arrivals and medical appointments   
  • Providing information about school admissions process, school events on the calendar, handling enquiries about extra curricular activities and school trips   
  • You will be expected to stay late several times a year for Parent's Evenings, Prize Giving, VI Form Leaver's Dinner, etc.

Successful candidates should:   

  • be a native level English speaker or entirely bilingual (this requirement is non-negotiable)   
  • have a university degree or have completed secretarial studies   
  • previous experience in front office/client facing roles   
  • be extremely personable and well presented   
  • have a polite telephone manner   
  • thrive in a busy environment and enjoy working in a client facing capacity

Other desirable but not essential criteria include:   

  • previous work experience in a school office   
  • additional foreign languages
