Job description 

Out of hours term time After School care manager and Holiday Club Deputy manager 

A minimum Level 3 childcare qualification is necessary.

We are looking for a qualified and experienced manager to work and manage our After School care for Monday to Friday during term time and to work in our summer holiday club as deputy manager during school holidays alongside our current manager. To manage and be in complete charge of the day to day running of the club for some weeks, during which our current supervisor takes leave. 


You would be responsible for all staff, children and responsible for communicating with parents, feeding back any necessary information and their child's day. In regards to the after school care you would be communicating with the nursery staff, as well as parents, to ensure up-to-date information about the children is paramount. Administration is also required. You must have some basic IT skills for our booking system and correspondence. 

*There is an option for the After School care manager position to be part time during term time. However during the holidays you will be full time, working alongside our current manager when she is present, and managing the club when she is absent or taking leave.

About us!

We have been running our after school care and holiday club for over 20 years. Our after school care is designed to help working parents of children aged 2-12 years so they can have all day and all year round care for  early years children and occasional primary aged children. The routine after school consists of a range of activities that children can choose from such as: art, music, construction, puzzles and games, stories as well as outdoor activities and teatime. 

Forest Farm School is in Elsfield, in beautiful countryside just 10 minutes from Oxford. We have a lovely designated room for the early years children for after school and holiday care. Our extensive grounds have various areas to spend the day exploring- woodland, meadow, playground, outside sports area, willow domes, a marquee, a sports barn, Vegetable and fruit gardens. During the holiday club we are mainly based outside and endeavour to immerse children in nature and the great outdoors for their health and well being. We have a nurturing ethos and want to create a lovely environment for the children to be themselves and make new friends. Staff are there to help them to do this. 


During term time After School care manager: Full time: 10-6pm or 9.30-5.30pm  to be part of the early years team during the day with additional duties to include supervision of early years' lunches (packed lunches) /outside play supervision. Asc administrative duties. 

A Part time option is possible during term time only - 2-6pm-set up and run the Asc only with the Asc administrative duties. 


Holiday Club: 8.00 a.m - 5.00 p.m for 12 weeks per annum. We are closed for 3 weeks over Christmas.

Job Summary:

The manager is overall in-charge for planning the day to day organisation, such as the staffing and childcare registers and planning and resourcing activities. Your role is to ensure the smooth transition of children from the nursery day into after school care and holiday care. To welcome children from other settings for our holiday club. 

To ensure staff are responsible for caring, safeguarding and able to meet the needs of all the children in your care. All staff are to work together to ensure the smooth running,welcoming environment and contribute to planning and delivering of activities under your guidance.

You must have :

A Qualification in childcare to minimum of NVQ3 or equivalent.

A current First aid certificate would be an advantage. 

Knowledge of safeguarding and up to date safeguarding training in DSL would be necessary.

Overall responsibility for the staff/pupils attending the holiday club.

Responsibility for the day to day registers and booking process leading up to the holiday period- on-line. 

Responsibility for the day to day running  - ensuring staff have planned their allocated activities. ordering resources and general daily organisation.

Point of contact for the parents 

Ensuring accurate registers are kept, and that staffing is at the right ratio each day.

Checking that the bus register is correct - we run a school minibus daily during term time from Oxford at the start/end of each day.

Ensuring that all school policies including Staff code of conduct, safeguarding and health and safety policies are adhered to by all staff.

Ensuring the safety of the children at all times - 

To carry out risk assessments

You will hold a current DBS or be willing to undertake an enhanced DBS.

Any specialisms would be an advantage to  incorporate; art and craft activities, cooking, drama, music, games and general outdoor pursuits, such as Forest school activities

Holiday Club:

This operates each school holiday excluding Christmas and Bank Holidays. Approximately 12 weeks per annum. 

Staff arrive, ready to start work at 8.00am to follow the opening procedure and help prepare for the activities laid out on the weekly planning sheet. This is a chance to work out logistics of the day,  find out who will be working with you, familiarise yourself with key staff and first-aiders,  particularly note children with allergies/ additional needs etc 

Ensure children remain safe, happy and engaged throughout the day, including socialising with other children and participating in activities. We also appreciate and respect children opting out of activities which they feel uncomfortable doing and provide another quieter, independent activity where possible. 

Activities- We aim to create an exciting itinerary with creative, nature and sporting and team building activities. 

Pay:  Full time: £24,960 . 10-5 30/6 pm during term time and 8-5.15pm during school holidays. 

Part time option considered: £15,854. Part time Asc 4 hours per day during term time. and full days during holiday club out of term time.

Holiday entitlement : Statutory holiday pay (28 days pro rata) plus Bank holidays. 

3 weeks to be taken over Christmas when the school is closed and the rest with negotiation with the holiday club manager. 

Pension: OMS operates a pension scheme. 

Sick pay :OMS pays 5 paid days sick per annum. SSP thereafter
