St Joseph's Primary Maclean is a school that strives to be truly Catholic in our identity and life; a centre of the new evangelisation and a place where the dignity and potential of every student is recognised and enabled to achieve the fullness of life. St Joseph's Primary Maclean is a place where students are formed in the faith and can achieve high levels of ‘Catholic religious literacy’ and practice. 


Applications are invited from suitably qualified teachers / persons for the following position: Full-Time Temporary teaching position for 2019 school year. 


Role Expectations: 

  • Support the mission, teachings and ethos of the Catholic Church’s work in schools. 


The successful candidates will be a highly professional, growth-oriented practitioner with a demonstrated ability to: 

  • Contemporary approach to classroom teaching;
  • Contribute to the collaborative culture of the school as a Professional Learning Community; 
  • Community effectively with staff, students and parents; 
  • Assess and provide feedback on student learning; 
  • Implement positive and supportive behaviour management practices; 
  • Support students with additional needs; 
  • Use technology effectively and creatively to support student learning; 
  • Hold current NESA Teacher Accreditation; 
  • Current NSW Working with Children Check. 


Ideally applicants will be a committed Christian who worships regularly in their local Christian community, who will support the mission, ethos and teachings of the Catholic Church’s work in School. 

Applications together with complete personal and professional resume, details of background and experience, service record, full documentation and names, addresses and phone numbers of at least three referees including a Parish Priest at which they currently worship. Applicants are also asked to submit a written application of how they would address the above criteria (no more than 4 A4 pages).

About St Joseph’s Primary School MACLEAN

St Joseph’s Primary School Maclean is an independent, co-educational Catholic primary school that caters for students from Kindergarten to Year 6. 

St Joseph’s is located in the New South Wales Northern Rivers region, in the town of Maclean. The school was first established by the Sisters of Mercy in 1998, and has been dismantled and rebuilt over the years since.

The school offers a broad range of facilities to maximise teaching and engaged learning experiences. The school is thoroughly resourced with technology-rich classrooms and indoor and outdoor learning areas. The grounds include an adventure playground and vegetable growing and garden areas. Facilities for sporting, cultural and other co-curricular activities provide a number of outlets for students to enhance their educational experiences. The school campus also houses a Music Academy to give students access to instrumental tuition and performance opportunities.

Curriculum

A strong emphasis on literacy and numeracy is placed in the curriculum. The individualised needs of individual students are catered for through the school’s personalised learning focus to develop and nurture the specific skills and talents of each student.Academic and enrichment programs are offered in English, Mathematics, Science, The Humanities, Physical Education, Creative Arts and Sporting Programs. Additional programs include languages and environmental sustainability.
