We are specifically looking for dynamic and effective teachers who are able to engage, support and motivate students in online lessons and individual study sessions. We are looking for experienced educators with a passion for their subject and a willingness to be involved in setting up and shaping all aspects of the school.

About Pearson Online Academy UK Global

Pearson Online Academy UK Global is a high-quality personalised online private school delivering Pearson Edexcel International GCSEs and A Levels for 14 to 18-year-olds that can be accessed anywhere.

The school is designed to help students with diverse abilities and backgrounds thrive through an individualised instructional approach and flexible scheduling.

We inspire and empower our students to achieve academic excellence through our affordable, online education that prepares them for brilliant futures.

The school uses a flipped classroom style teaching methodology to increase student engagement and encourage critical thinking. Students work through interactive self-study materials to develop an understanding of subject content; this self-study is then followed by live teacher-led lessons in a virtual classroom. This approach enables students to work through materials independently at a time and pace that suits them, and the technology generates deep insights about their learning. Students are also supported by teachers in one-to-one online office hour consultations.

On a weekly basis, International GCSE students will complete two self-guided lessons (or three for maths), and one Live Lesson session with their teacher and peers, as well as 40 minutes of homework each week. International A Level students will complete five self-guided lessons and two Live Teacher-led Lesson, in addition to one hour of homework, for each subject every week.

Students will also engage in a selection of electives and extra-curricular activities, that can enable them to extend their learning through engaging projects, connect with other students from around the world, gain social confidence and to develop a range of skills.

The role of an online teacher at Pearson Online Academy UK Global

As an online teacher you will be joining a network of online educators working across Pearson’s online schools. You will be working with students situated in the UK and across the world studying towards Pearson Edexcel International GCSE and A level qualifications and also preparing these students for university.

As the online class subject teacher, you will be required to deliver flipped classroom style live online lessons in your specialist subject. Using data from students’ progress in their independent self-study lessons, you will focus your live lessons on the areas in which students most need support and follow up, as well as extension areas.

In addition to monitoring your students’ progress through their self-study lessons in order to appropriately tailor your live sessions, you will be expected to provide one to one student feedback and support. Each teacher has at least an hour a day available for drop-in “office hour” sessions with students.

As a member of staff you will be joining a network of online teachers employed by Pearson and will benefit from on-going professional development. You will receive training on how to best utilise the online teaching platform, its features and content as well as best practice online teaching methodologies.

Teaching staff will also be requested to contribute to the elective and extra-curricular student program based on interest and time availability.

All teaching staff will report to the Pearson Online Academy UK Global Principal.
