Job overview

Location Kendal, usually based at Bridge Mills

Cumbria is at the forefront of developing a system-led, collaborative approach to education improvement. The Cumbria Alliance of System Leaders (CASL) is a dynamic alliance of educational partners from across Cumbria. It is an alliance in which the Local Authority is an essential and integral member, working in partnership to ensure that our children and young people achieve the best possible outcomes.

We are looking to recruit an experienced, innovative and adaptable education improvement professional to join our Learning Improvement Service Team. If successful, you will have the opportunity to make a contribution to the local team of a self-improving education system for the benefit of all children and young people in Barrow and South Lakeland. The role will include the opportunity to work with multi-agency partners within the designated area to identify and support schools to improve outcomes for children and families. This is a full-time, permanent post but applications from the ideal candidate who may prefer a secondment opportunity in the current educational landscape will be welcomed.

The successful applicant will:

  • work with all stakeholders involved in a system-led collaborative partnership to improve outcomes for all, from Early Years to Post-16 across Barrow and South Lakeland;
  • support a range of solutions that encourage collaboration and support sector-led school improvement;
  • undertake school support and work in partnership to maximise the use of the strengths and resources available in the alliance;
  • work closely with the Senior Adviser and Chair of the South Area Local Alliance of System Leaders (LASL) to identify schools, academies, settings and providers in need of support to improve;
  • work with relevant Local Authority and LASL colleagues to ensure that statutory functions are met.
