Job overview

Our facilities team provides professional and efficient general maintenance at the school but also support the development of the whole school site. 

Your main duties will include:

  • undertake daily tasks from a task sheet such as minibus driving, empty waste bins, deliver parcels, grass cutting etc.
  • assist with duties necessary for the smooth running of the school including: setting out and clearing away of chairs for lunchtimes/meetings/functions/lessons and general clearing after events.
  • work with the groundsman, gardener and facilities team ensuring the grounds are free from debris and litter.
  • assist with the maintenance of the swimming pool.
  • Be prepared to undertake necessary training to achieve mandatory qualifications
  • Undertake basic repairs in glazing, painting, plumbing, carpentry, bricklaying, flooring, fencing and tiling.
  • Notify the Facilities Manager of any items in need of repair or maintenance that require immediate third party contractors
  • Cover for other members of the facilities team
  • Provide support before, during and after a school event, such as Back to School Picnic, Open Days (including Saturday Open Morning), prize giving, Christmas Fayre, Sports Day, School Concerts/Productions etc. as required.
  • Be prepared to attend outside normal working hours with reasonable notice for car parking duties (paid as overtime or time in lieu-mutually agreed with Facilities Manager beforehand)
  • Understand and use best practice for school Health & Safety policies and procedures
  • Undertake any further duties requested by the Facilities Manager, Director of Finance & Operation or Head Teacher.

We have an extensive safer recruitment policy and procedure which ensures those unsuitable for working with children are identified at the initial stages. All staff in regulated activity with pupils will be subject to the standard employment checks including an enhanced DBS check. Volunteers and visitors will also be subject to identity checks if required.

Safeguarding training is actively promoted yearly and is mandatory for all staff.
