Job overview

As a General Studies Teacher at Cumberland School, you'll get to deliver the kind of education you always wanted to. You’ll have superb leadership, specialist support and state-of-the-art-facilities allowing you to focus on delivering a range of subjects to a group  of secondary aged pupils in a memorable way. Committed to fulfilling the potential of each and every one of our students, no matter what their educational needs (including emotional and social difficulties, autistic spectrum conditions and speech and language communication difficulties), you share our belief that all young people are capable of achieving great things.

This is why we’re only interested in hearing from superb classroom practitioners. Those who take the National Curriculum and bring it alive in a way that’s meaningful and engaging to our students. Ideally you’ll have experience of dealing with complex education needs, as you’ll need to connect with our students – understanding what makes them unique and working to make a real difference to their social and emotional development. But none of this fazes you, as it’s what you’re passionate about. And why you’ll fit right in.

Cumberland School is a co-educational day school based in Bamber Bridge near Preston and provides for pupil aged 11-18 with special educational needs relating to ASD and associated complex needs.  Many pupils present with additional co-existing conditions, such as ADHD, attachment disorder and speech and language difficulties, which impact significantly on their learning and progress.

For children and young people with complex, challenging needs, the level of care and education must go above and beyond. That’s what drives us, here at Witherslack Group. We are a leading provider of specialist education and care for children and young people with social, emotional and mental health needs, communication difficulties, complex learning needs and challenging behaviours. We have a reputation for excellence and of achieving the highest possible outcomes. In short, we’re creating life opportunities where none existed before.

Reward

We know you’re going to do great things. For your hard work and commitment, we want to reward you with a salary and benefits package that’s among the best in our sector. You’ll receive a competitive salary, teacher’s pension (where applicable) and comprehensive induction and ongoing training, as well as extensive Group staff benefits such as Medicash Health Plan/Employee Assistance, Kia preferential Affinity Scheme, Merlin Entertainment discounts, Cycle to Work and tax free childcare vouchers.

If you would like to discuss this role please contact Donna Rothwell, Office Manager/PA to the Executive Head Teacher on 01772 284 435.
