Job overview

Required to start January 2019;  The Governors of this high achieving, oversubscribed Catholic Voluntary Academy seek to appoint a Teaching Assistant to support students with Special Educational Needs in their learning, both in the classroom and on a one-to-one basis. Duties will include supporting pupils with barriers to their learning, establishing good relationships with pupils, acting as a role model and being aware of and responding appropriately to individual needs. Previous experience of working with pupils with emotional/behavioural needs or communication difficulties is desirable but not essential.

You will be an excellent communicator with effective and efficient organisational skills, with the ability to work as part of a team and use own initiative. Good literacy and numeracy skills are essential.

St. Mary’s is a popular and highly successful school situated on the North West fringe of Leeds, close to the Yorkshire Dales. The school is part of the Bishop Wheeler Catholic Academy Trust which consists of the high school and 9 primary schools. We became a Teaching School in October 2015 and a National Support School in September 2017.
