Subject Leader for Geography Main Pay Scale (+ TLR 2b) – Hours of work: Full Time, Permanent Contract
This is an exciting opportunity for an exceptional candidate to join a successful and forward thinking converter academy. Required from September 2018, we wish to appoint an enthusiastic, dynamic and highly motivated Leader of Geography with the ability to lead and teach at all ages 11-16.
Longdendale High School is a successful and popular comprehensive 11-16 academy set at the edge of the Peak District on the border of Tameside and Derbyshire. We have a current intake of 800 students with cohorts typically above the national average in terms of prior attainment. Our most recent Ofsted inspection recognised the excellent provision and opportunities our students are offered in all areas of the curriculum, and the school was judged to be ‘Good with Outstanding features’. This is clearly a fantastic achievement we are currently building on and the successful candidate will play a key role in our continuing journey to outstanding as we work relentlessly to ensure all students are supported to achieve their full potential and flourish in all aspects of school life. We are seeking to appoint an exceptional candidate to join our Humanities team and to lead Geography. The successful candidate will further develop the curriculum and teaching experience in lessons to ensure that all students achieve at least their target grade on the Aspire Pathway. As subject leader for Geography, the successful candidate will work to provide outstanding learning opportunities and instil a love of learning. The successful applicant will join a well-resourced department and a staff of highly committed professionals who are passionate about raising standards and learning outcomes for all students.
