Job overview

The Priory School is a thriving inclusive learning community, which seeks to appoint a Geography Teacher. The 2017 Ofsted Report identified that the school had  ‘created a tolerant community where diversity is valued and where pupils feel they belong, regardless of race, religion or sexuality.’

We are looking for an innovative and passionate professional who can inspire students to develop our core values of Responsibility, Respect and Resilience. This position would be an ideal opportunity for an NQT. We will provide you with the right balance of support, challenge and stimulation for both job satisfaction and career development. The Priory School:

  • actively promotes staff wellbeing;
  • has happy disciplined students who are eager to achieve their best;
  • is a school that is committed to innovation and excellence;
  • is oversubscribed; and
  • is situated on an attractive greenbelt campus on the outskirts of Hitchin.

Please contact the Headteacher’s PA Emma Sangster (emma.sangster@priory.herts.sch.uk) if you would like to visit the school or discuss the position with the Headteacher.

The closing date is Thursday 5th December with interviews taking place w/c Monday 9th December.

We are an oversubscribed 11-18 co-educational Foundation School with over 1,200 students on role. The school is part of the Post 16 Hitchin consortium with over 600 hundred students. The school is situated in the greenbelt on a 27-acre site with ample parking. The market town of Hitchin is a highly sought-after destination with excellent local amenities and transport links. Central London and Cambridge are all within 30 minutes’ travel by rail and our nearest airport is 20 minutes by road.

At The Priory School we aim to embed our core values of Responsibility, Respect and Resilience by delivering outstanding learning opportunities and building meaningful relationships with our stakeholders. In our last Ofsted inspection the school was praised for creating ‘a highly inclusive school, where there are consistently high expectations of what all pupils can achieve’. We have created a learning environment that raises students’ aspirations and promotes academic achievement where ‘pupils feel they belong, regardless of race, religion or sexuality’.

New colleagues will be provided with the right balance of support, challenge and stimulation for both job satisfaction and career development.
