At Marine Academy we deliver a knowledge-rich curriculum that is cohesive, cumulative and highly sequenced. The curriculum is academic, rigorous and challenging. It has been designed with long-term memory in mind; students’ knowledge, skills and understanding are cemented by frequent and systematic revisiting.

As a teacher at Marine Academy your time will be highly valued. You will not be expected to mark homework - this is already planned and set for you. You will not be expected to attend pointless meetings - our meetings have specific foci, and only happen on a Monday. You will not be routinely expected to handwrite feedback to students. Your lesson observations will not be graded but feedback will help you improve. Your lessons will not be disrupted by poor behaviour, our RTL system will remove students who cannot follow our rules so that you can get on with teaching.

You will receive fortnightly 1-2-1 coaching in order to make continual improvements within your teaching. This improvement will be aligned to the very latest in educational research and thinking. You will follow Schemes of Learning that are already planned and resourced for you. You will be supported by like-minded colleagues in an atmosphere of respect and creativity.

If you value knowledge, consistency of approach, the very highest academic and behavioural expectations of students and wish to be at the cutting edge of educational development then please apply for the post of Teacher of Geography.  Subject specialism essential. This post is suitable for NQTs.

We are delighted to be working in partnership with The Ted Wragg Multi Academy Trust – a values driven, rapidly growing Trust with a relentless focus on transforming lives through learning by delivering outstanding outcomes for every student, regardless of background.

With a reputation for highly successful school improvement in very challenging circumstances, we are passionate about driving up standards and raising the aspirations of all our students.

We would encourage you to arrange a visit to the school so you can see just how amazing our students are. Please contact Michelle Samuel at michelle.samuel@marineacademy.org.uk

The Marine Academy Plymouth is not your average kind of academy. We aim to deliver for all learners, to the very highest degree, all the conventional outcomes of education and the Every Child Matters agenda too. Alongside this fundamental aim is our commitment to respecting, relating to and learning from through the environment and in particular the marine environment, which of course represents the heritage of this great city.

The Academy is sponsored by the University of Plymouth, with its world class marine science reputation, along with co-sponsors Cornwall College and Plymouth City Council. The Academy opened in September 2010 on the existing site of Tamarside Community College, but has undergone a major building re-development which now offers state-of-the art facilities.

The aim is to transform education for Plymouth in general and for the school’s community and locality in particular. This will be achieved through a commitment to foundational academic achievement combined with the development of enterprise skills, communication skills and entrepreneurialism, all using environmental and marine themes and the multiple environments in the South West of tourism, leisure, recreation and maritime engineering.
