Role:

We are looking for an enthusiastic and ambitious teacher of Geography to join our passionate team.  We are committed to ensuring all students continue to achieve beyond their potential.  This is an incredibly exciting opportunity to join a department dedicated to improving outcomes, aspirations and life chances of young people. 

The Geography Team at Leeds East Academy has a wide range of experience and skills.  The department works collaboratively to develop both learning experiences and professional growth.  

Classroom Teachers - Expectations of all Academy staff:

  • Teach across the age range of KS3 with a focus on lower ability. 
  • Ensure teaching and learning in the classroom maximises the potential of all students
  • To be accountable for the progress of pupils taught as a subject teacher.
  • Contribute to the development and delivery of an innovative and engaging curriculum
  • Be dedicated to personal continued professional development
  • To share and support the school’s responsibility to provide opportunities for personal and academic growth.

TLR Responsibilities:

  • In line with the national curriculum, employ rigorous assessment techniques to ensure innovative and strategic planning and delivery across the department
  • Research, understand and develop the Geography curriculum with a focus on the GCSE 9-1 grades in-line with the EIF
  • Build a KS3 Geography curriculum that promotes a love for learning leading to students selecting the option at KS4
  • Create clear department assessments plans which contribute positively to the Academy ADIP (Academy Development and Improvement Plan)
  • Contribute to the development of whole school strategic planning and policies through attendance at middle leadership meetings
