Notting Hill & Ealing High School, one of London’s leading independent girls’ day schools, has an exciting opportunity for an exceptional individual to support this thriving and popular department. The successful candidate will teach German conversation classes to GCSE and A-Level students.

The vacancy provides the opportunity for an individual with an interest in the German language and culture to share this with motivated, high-achieving students.

If you are a good communicator who can enthuse and inspire about the subject of German, we would be delighted to hear from you.

German at NHEHS

German is a vibrant and thriving subject within the MFL department of NHEHS. Pupils have the opportunity to learn German within an Extra-Curricular setting in the Junior School and study German as a second foreign language from Year 7. The numbers of pupils continuing with the subject to GCSE and A-level continues to steadily increase as parents and pupils discover the benefits of proficiency in the language. Our students sit the Cambridge IGCSE and Edexcel A-Level course and the department has excellent exam results. The department offers a curriculum, which provides ample opportunities to gain an understanding through the provision of cocurricular trips and clubs, researching the diverse aspects the German-speaking world has to offer, from Goethe to Hegel, Brecht or Anna Funder’s novel Stasiland.

Teaching at NHEHS

“Teaching here is all about being able to have in-depth conversations with students about your subject and helping to enthuse them with the same passion as you have. Teaching at NHEHS is exactly what I imagined teaching would be like when I got my first teaching job; it’s what teaching should be!”

- Head of Department
