SCHOOL GOVERNOR VACANCY

About the School

Holmer Green Senior School is a good and improving school based near High Wycombe in Buckinghamshire. We believe in ‘Achievement and Opportunity For All’ and we are committed to ensuring our students receive the best possible education. The school achieved our highest ever GCSE and A-Level results in 2017 and recently we secured Arts Mark Platinum Status. We have a strong reputation within the local community and as such we have been significantly over subscribed for the last two years.

We are designated “good” by Ofsted and are ambitious to take the next steps to be a nationally recognised school. This is an exciting time for the school and new Headteacher to be making a difference in the lives of children.

  • Ensuring all students have access to a broad and balanced curriculum
  • Overseeing the financial performance of the school and making sure its money is well spent and accounted for
  • Acting as a link governor on specific areas within the school, making relevant enquires of staff and reporting to the governing body.

Holmer Green also aims to provide an ambitious and dynamic school experience for every child, with a commitment to helping him or her become successful, confident and caring. It aims to best prepare its young people for the next stage in life.

Our mission at HGSS is:

“To develop confident, young people, irrespective or background, who strive to be the best they can academically, personally and as citizens, ensuring that they are well prepared for a fast-paced, changing world”

We have a simple motto:  Word hard, be kind.

We have four values that underpin everything we do as a community school:

Work hard

Be kind

Have passion

Excellence

Creativity

Our current staff sing our praises always.  See what they particularly like below:

  • Staff are trusted to use their professional judgement in planning, delivering and assessing lessons. There are high expectations of the conduct of students and staff. It is a supportive school with staff who are willing to help each other.
  • The students at HGSS are committed to getting a good education. They work hard and want to do well. They are a pleasure to teach.
  • I get up in the morning and look forward to coming to work. No two days are the same but every day is a pleasurable challenge. I think the new Headteacher has amazing qualities and it is obvious that he cares about his staff and his students.
  • In comparison to other schools I have worked at, the “team” is so supportive, welcoming and friendly – it makes such a difference. The Headteacher and all SLT members are approachable and treat me as valuable member of their team.
