Your responsibilities will include attending Governing Board meetings, serving on one of several Sub-Committees and attending training and development opportunities. There will also be an opportunity to be an active member of the Academy community and attend Academy events throughout the year. This is a volunteer role.

The University of Kent Academies Trust (UKAT) is an established Trust focused on developing the life experience and opportunities of its students, parents, carers, and staff in Medway and Kent, and the surrounding community. We are ambitious and courageous, and we want young people to aspire to reach their goals and aspirations above and beyond any limitations they might perceive.

Each Academy within the Trust is different in its approach to learning and has its own core beliefs and values established. The MAT is sponsored and supported by the University of Kent, a leading University that provides academic and vocational opportunities for our students, and professional development opportunities for our staff.

Brompton Academy offers its students a wide variety of educational opportunities with a commitment to ensuring that its students achieve good educational outcomes, develop healthy minds and aspire to be happy and confident individuals ready to embark on a variety of aspirational careers. We are passionate about nurturing, growing, and developing people, so that the students and communities we serve have the best opportunities to thrive and flourish. We want to excite and motivate those who work with us and create real passion and joy around learning.

UKAT and its academies are proud of their comprehensive websites and encourage applicants to visit for further information:

Where is Brompton Academy?

Set within the Garden of England, Brompton Academy is located adjacent to the Great Lines Heritage Park, which are Medway's most prominent green spaces with over 70 hectares of open space.  The location of the Academy provides excellent transport links by rail to London (with the option of a high-speed service) and its main airports and is less than an hour from the main channel ports giving easy access to mainland Europe.  Gillingham railway station is just a 10-15 minute walk away.  The Academy also has excellent transport links by road from the M2/A2 (and has free car parking!).

Within close proximity of the Academy, there are a wide range of leisure and cultural activities.  Just five minutes by car brings you to Historic Dockyard Chatham, one of Britain’s leading maritime heritage destinations where you can explore galleries and museums and enjoy a multitude of festivals and events throughout the year.  The Dockside Outlet centre sports over 40 great retailers if you are interested in some retail therapy, restaurants, bars, coffee shops, gyms, hotels and a newly built Odeon Cinema.

The local area boasts great sporting facilities and the nearby Medway Park (5 minute walk) is an established sports centre with three indoor swimming pools, gym, fitness centre, sports hall and squash courts.  Our Lead Sponsor, the University of Kent also offers a professional Sports Therapy Clinic at Medway Park and offers discounted rates to any BA staff.

For those that might be interested in discovering a bit more about the local area we are very fortunate to have some beautiful landmarks close by and would encourage you to visit the historical town of Rochester, home of Charles Dickens where you will find museums, stunning historic buildings including the 800+ year old Rochester Castle and Rochester Cathedral together with a wide range of hotels and restaurants, bars, tea shops and a buzzing night life.  Or you might want to visit the more rural and quiet tranquil river village of Upnor where you will find Upnor Castle located on the west bank of the River Medway in Kent.

The location of the Academy also provides a wide range of housing options, so whether you are an NQT or an experienced teacher, looking for your first property, moving up the property ladder or relocating to the area, there is a varied selection of properties to suit your needs.  We would be happy to assist you in providing useful information and contacts if you are looking to relocate to the area.

With all of this so close to the Academy, there really is a lot on offer for working at Brompton Academy.

See for yourself and come and visit us if you are interested in joining us!
