Job overview
Start date: 1 September 2025
Ideally for one academic year - (minimum 2 terms required)
St Andrew’s is a flourishing, forward thinking co-educational IAPS prep school preparing its 320 pupils for a range of senior schools, both locally and nationally. A number of children win scholarships to their senior schools, as they move on to the likes of Abingdon, Bradfield, St Edward’s, Pangbourne, Downe House, Marlborough, The Oratory and Radley College.
We are looking to appoint at least one Graduate Assistant or a Gap Year student to join us from September 2025. You will play an active role in the School’s co-curricular and pastoral programmes, as well as assist in academic lessons depending on experience.
The post would suit individuals looking for experience in education, sports coaching, outward bound, performing arts and pastoral care and should be of particular interest to those considering a teaching career. Applications will be considered from across subject specialisms but any applicant will be expected to take a full and active part in the life of a busy prep school.
In addition, an excellent benefits package is on offer and accommodation is also available. There is no weekend work and holidays are free to travel. St Andrew’s is also a wonderful place to work, alongside a staff body who take their work seriously, but are less serious about

About St Andrew's School
St. Andrew’s was founded in 1934 and became a charitable trust administered by a board of governors in 1961. Since 1968 the school has been fully co-educational. The estate extends to 54 acres in magnificent Berkshire countryside between the villages of Pangbourne and Bradfield.
In recent years, the number of pupils has been steady at approximately 290, which is the currently intended maximum. Whilst it is predominantly a day school, ‘flexi-boarding’ operates and many children use this during their time at the school. The aim of the school is to provide the best possible broad-based education for children aged 3 to13. Pupils leave with an impressive number of scholarships. This year, seventeen of our twenty-three sixth form (Year 8) leavers have won awards, including academic, music, art and sports.
