An enthusiastic, motivated and innovative graduate is required to support our large PE, sport and physical activity team.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone looking for a supportive yet challenging work environment. You will be part of a dynamic and experienced team of professional staff. If you are committed to growing professionally and want to make a difference to young people’s lives through sport, then this opportunity could be for you.

As Graduate Assistant, you will support the delivery of the highest quality sport and physical activity programmes to all pupils in College. You will assist with the delivery of PE, co-curricular sport and school teams from Year 7 to Year 13. It is an incredibly exciting time to join CLC, we have recently undergone a significant extension of our World Class facilities and set ambitious visions to:

  • Deliver World leading PE curriculum that creates competent and confident learners through excellent teaching;
  • Ensure every girl is engaged in physical activity for at least one hour everyday within and beyond College; and
  • Be the leading school for supporting and developing student-athletes.

We are on an exciting journey involving delivery of cutting edge, innovative and exciting programmes. We need someone with the enthusiasm, openness and ambition to help us on this journey.

In addition, in the first year, the post holder will gain valuable pastoral experience working in one of our boarding houses as a member of our Housestaff for one evening per week during term time.

In return, not only do we offer a stimulating work environment with world class facilities, we offer financial assistance (up to £500) and paid time off to extend your portfolio of coaching awards plus benefits including, heavily subsidised membership of our Health & Fitness Centre. Should it be of interest to the successful candidate, we are open to considering support of gaining Qualified Teacher Status while working as Sports Graduate Assistant.

A sports degree is essential; a range of coaching/officiating qualifications is desirable. While we offer an incredibly wide range of sports and activities, our main team sports through the autumn and spring are Hockey, Netball and Lacrosse and we would really welcome applications from those with experience in these disciplines.

"Girls enrolling in College are highly likely to see in the turn of the next century, living lives of unprecedented longevity. Their world will be full of promise, choice and possibility on a scale that has not been true for any generation of women that has preceded them.

“Leading this energetic, talented and caring community of staff and pupils is an extraordinary privilege. We have a unique and inspiring pioneering heritage which we cherish, and we have a very exciting future. We would love you to be a part of it.”

Eve Jardine-Young, Principal

College first opened its doors in February 1854 with the purpose of providing girls with a thorough academic education. We have remained committed to that pioneering goal, while adapting to a complex and changing world. Today we are one of the largest school communities of boarding and day girls in Europe, allowing us to provide a rich holistic curriculum. Approximately 850 pupils from 40 countries across the world benefit from the knowledge and expertise gained over the last 160 years of putting girls first.

Our motivated and able pupils genuinely want to learn, and consistently achieve results at the very highest level in GCSE, A Level, Pre-U and IB examinations. For the teachers who can nurture such achievement, we offer excellent resources, professional support and personal development. In addition, we have a dedicated team that manages evening and weekend boarding duties, so you can focus on what you do best: inspiring your classes.

You can also look forward to a wonderful working environment right at the heart of Cheltenham. Described as the cultural centre of the Cotswolds, this elegant and thriving town offers excellent transport links to the South West or Midlands, with the M5 in easy reach. London can be reached in two hours, and Cheltenham’s mainline rail station provides rapid and frequent connections with the rest of the UK.

We believe that there are few better places to live and work – and no better setting within which ambitious teachers can make a positive impact on their pupils’ lives.
