Are you a Graduate or College Leaver with experience working or volunteering with children, young people, in youth work or with vulnerable adults?

You may be starting out and have completed placements or be in the early part of your career looking at which direction to take. You could be interested in a career in Education, Mental Health work, in Training as a Teacher, Social Worker, Counsellor, Instructor or Pastoral role.

We are looking to appoint a staff member to work with us on a full time basis Monday – Friday as a Support Worker for Behaviour and Inclusion within Kirklees. You may undertake a variety of assignments within Pupil Referral Unit and SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health) settings in Kirklees and possibly parts of Wakefield (subject to your location).

Within this assignment you can kick start your career, gain fantastic experience relevant to all of these areas, and crucially, most importantly, using your existing skills gained to date to help students and young people attain the very best outcomes for themselves. You will act as a role model, supportive of individual needs, provide curriculum support and assist Teacher’s in the delivery of learning. You will be active, keen and open to working in all areas of the curriculum including outdoor pursuits, Sport and Academic disciplines.  The work will involve working with students from KS2- KS4 (7-16 years).

As a Graduate Behaviour Support Worker you can expect to be challenged and quickly develop your resilience in order to handle situations that may be the result of long standing circumstances or early life experiences. The key is not to discipline but to guide, nurture and build independence , self regulation, personal and social skills. Parts of this work are demanding and you must have the tenacity to deal with highs and difficult lows.
