Job overview

We seek to appoint a Graduate Gap Staff member from September 2023 to July 2024 who will be resident in self-contained staff accommodation in one of the boarding houses and therefore a member of the larger Resident Staff Team made up also of teachers. The role of the Graduate Gap Staff is to provide support for the day-to-day running of the St Catherine’s Senior and Prep schools across various departments.

The successful applicant will work at times alongside the School Leaver Gap students, lending some leadership within that team and mentoring the younger Gaps, and will at other times perform duties more suited to their greater maturity and graduate qualifications, including being member of the Resident Staff Team for boarding house supervision duties as well as having some opportunities to experience of school life in areas of particular interest to the applicant. Examples might be a specific academic subject or extra-curricular area such as Drama, Sport, Music etc. The post would suit a graduate considering a career in teaching/education and wanting to find out more about Schools from the teacher perspective before committing to teacher training.

Remuneration for the role and accommodation on site in a school house are part of the package.

Further details and an application form are available from www.stcatherines.info/welcome/job-opportunities or by email from the HR Administrator on jobapplications@stcatherines.info

Applications will be assessed in order of receipt and interviews may occur at any stage after applications are received. Please apply as soon as possible. We will consider applications when they come in and would hope to have made an appointment by mid June.

Applicants must be willing to undergo child protection screening, including checks with past employers and an enhanced DBS and barred list check. The School is an equal opportunities employer.

St Catherine's School, Bramley, an independent boarding and day school for girls aged 4 -18. Founded in 1885, the school enjoys over a century of tradition and prides itself on its own very special blend of academic excellence and pastoral care.
As a girls' school St Catherine's ensures that its students develop in an environment which suggests to them in everything they see around them that there is nothing that a woman cannot achieve.

They gain a balanced view of the world and their place in it and, with that sense of fearlessness and security, and the confidence it generates, I believe that St Catherine's girls will continue to be very well placed to pursue their education when they leave school at eighteen as sensible, caring and competent young women who will have much to offer in life.
Academic results are important - the school is comfortably placed in the infamous league tables - but we believe that there is much more to an all round education for the young women of the 21st century. The breadth of opportunity afforded to our students and the special atmosphere of support and encouragement which is the hallmark of the school allow St Catherine's to enjoy a reputation as a happy school for bright girls. The philosophy that happiness at school is the key to success and enjoyment for every individual underpins everything we do.
