Job overview

“Truly Swiss and truly international”, Le Régent International School is a 4-18 independent co-educational boarding and day school. Founded in 2015, it is the youngest and the most modern international boarding school in Switzerland. Le Régent is a dynamic and growing IB World School. We provide a multilingual and multicultural educational environment to over 250 students from 45 countries.

The school is committed to holistic educational principles, combining demanding academic curricula with extensive sporting, arts and public-speaking programmes, leading to IGCSEs in Grade 10 and the International Baccalaureate (or the Régent Graduation Diploma) in IB2. Language options are particularly strong and many students speak at least two languages fluently.

Located in Crans-Montana in the Valais canton, Le Régent’s Outdoor Education programme comprising frequent expeditions, wild camping, ski-touring and cross-country skiing, takes full advantage of its stunning location to provide students with the personal skills and understanding of the environment that will serve them well in the future.

At the same time, Le Régent is proud of its commitment to contemporary pedagogy. It is an Apple Distinguished school and a large proportion of its faculty are accomplished and intelligent users of technology inside and outside the classroom.

Le Régent International School is an official examination centre for the IB Diploma Programme, SATs, IELTS and Edexcel IGCSEs.

Le Régent is seeking to appoint a graduate intern (stagiaire) to assist and support the work of the school in areas appropriate to their skills and expertise and to become involved in the broader life of the Régent community.

This is a residential position from 30 August 2023 to 29 June 2024. It would suit a recently qualified graduate student looking to take a break after his/her studies or who is considering the teaching profession in the future.

Duties will be varied and tailored to the skills and ambitions of the stagiaire engaged but would cover many aspects of school life. These might include any of the following: classroom or sports assistant, library duty, accompanying students in sports or outings, boarding duties, and creating content (photos & videos) for our social media.

Provided by Le Régent

  1. A gross monthly allowance of CHF 1,400.-
  2. If applicable, air travel to and from Le Régent from the airport at the stagiaire’s place of origin at the beginning and end of the contract (up to a maximum of CHF 500 return).
  3. Board (three meals a day), lodging (a student room with an en-suite bathroom at the very least and larger if available, in a Régent boarding house), use of Le Régent’s sports facilities during term time. Accommodation will be available 7 days prior to the start of the contract and 7 days following the end of the contract.
  4. Health and accident insurance
  5. Liability insurance: the intern is responsible for taking it out (and cancelling it) but will be reimbursed.
  6. Right to school holidays (Boarding houses may remain open during the winter and summer long weekends and the duty rota will be defined at the start of the term)
  7. The half-fare travel card (SBB/CFF)
  8. The ski pass for Crans-Montana

We are looking for flexibility, energy and experience of working with children. The ability to drive a car as well as a liking for outdoor activities and sports (especially winter sports) would be a distinct advantage as would a readiness to live in an alpine environment.

Accommodation, board, medical insurance, travel and a ski pass are added to a basic stagiaire's allowance.

UK APPLICANTS

Unfortunately, we cannot consider UK applicants as the Swiss State Secretariat for Migration limits admissions of third-country nationals to "managers, specialists and other qualified workers".

We reserve the right to appoint the right candidate ahead of the closing date. Le Régent is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. Applicants will therefore need to undergo child protection screening appropriate to the post.
