*****

We are seeking to appoint up to six graduate interns for the 2021-2022 school year. These are residential positions from September 2021 until the end of June 2022. They would suit recently qualified graduate students looking to take a break after their studies or someone who is considering the teaching profession in the future.

Duties will be varied and tailored to the skills and ambitions of those engaged but would cover many aspects of school life. These might include any of the following: classroom or sports assistant, library duty, accompanying students in sports or outings, boarding duties, creating content (photos & videos) for our social media.

We would particularly welcome applications from candidates with interest or specialism in the following areas:

  • Junior and Infant School (children aged 3-12) teaching assistant
  • Junior School (children aged 7-12) boarding assistant
  • Senior/secondary school boarding assistant
  • Sports and boarding assistant all ages
  • Outdoor Education (further details in separate ad available on school website)

We are looking for flexibility, energy and experience of working with children; some knowledge of both English and French as well as a liking for outdoor activities and sports (especially winter sports) would be a distinct advantage as would a readiness to live in an alpine environment and a driving licence.

UK APPLICANTS

Following the UK’s exit from the EU, the Agreement on the Free Movement of Persons (AFMP) between Switzerland and the EU no longer applies to the UK, and UK nationals are considered third-state nationals (who, contrary to most third-state nationals, do not require a visa in order to enter Switzerland). Unfortunately, regulations to obtain a work permit are considerably tighter for third-state nationals than they are for most Europeans; getting a job offer is just one step of many. Preference has always been given to Swiss nationals, foreign nationals with a Swiss residence permit (C, B, L, S, or F ) and EU/EFTA citizens/permit holders, where candidates are equally qualified; unfortunately, this rule now applies to UK nationals.

This vacancy is advertised on the SwissWork and EURES platforms.
