Start date: Required for September 2018

Salary: Undisclosed
Contract term: Temporary

The post is for one academic year, with the possibility to extend to a second year and complete a PGCE qualification for the right candidate.

We are looking to recruit a Graduate Musician in Residence to join our busy Music Department.

Pangbourne College is home to the Falkland Islands Memorial Chapel, where we hold regular Chapel services, assemblies and the Annual Falkland Islands Memorial Service. The Graduate Musician in Residence will have full involvement in these important aspects of College life.

You will be responsible for providing musical accompaniment and support for individual or small group lessons, along with preparing pupils for performances and examinations. You will provide musical accompaniment to concerts, choirs and examinations. Other responsibilities will include supervision for practice sessions two evenings per week, teaching music theory and taking aural classes. The post holder may upon occasion have the opportunity to earn an additional fee through accompanying or directing rehearsals for the Pangbourne Choral Society. It is acknowledged that as a graduate musician, you may wish to engage in other freelance musical work, and there will be the freedom to do so, around the commitment to host supervised practice on two evenings in any given week, and to attend Concerts and events timetabled for the department, which must be prioritised. You will be passionate about your instrument and be able to bring your skills and enthusiasm to inspire our pupils. There will be a requirement to work evenings and weekends and support tours and visits during College holidays.

We have outstanding facilities for our musicians within our awarding winning, custom built department. Single accommodation can be provided for this role.

For further information and an application pack, please visit our website

Applications should be sent to and must be received by 12:00 midday on 18th May 2018. Please apply as soon as possible as applications will be considered upon receipt; we reserve the right to interview/appoint before the closing date.

In line with our recruitment policy and for the protection of our pupils, you will be subject to an enhanced DBS disclosure and employment reference checks. Pangbourne College is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects staff and volunteers to share this commitment. You must be eligible to work in the UK.
