An Independent Day School for Boys with a Co-Educational Sixth Form
Founded in 1646, Reading Blue Coat School is a leading independent day school of 480 boys aged 11 – 16, with a further 270 students in the co-educational Sixth Form. The School is located on a beautiful 46 acre campus in the village of Sonning, just outside Reading, overlooking the Thames.
The School offers a stimulating, friendly and supportive atmosphere in which each pupil can realise his or her full intellectual, physical and creative potential.
An enthusiastic Sports Graduate specialising in strength and conditioning is required from September 2019 to support our Sport & Physical Education department in the delivery of strength and conditioning coaching to pupils of all abilities, along with teaching of PE and Games and in coaching sports teams. This is a full-time, term time only position requiring work both during the school day and for after school activities and games.
Candidates should have a good Honours degree in a sports subject. Knowledge of strength and conditioning programmes and performance analysis is essential along with the ability to confidently deliver a range of PE activities currently within the curriculum. Excellent communication skills are required with ability to establish rapport with students, parents and colleagues. A commitment to the ethos of the School and its pastoral approach is essential.
We have an enviable reputation both locally and nationally for the high quality of our sports teams. Our facilities are excellent and sport plays a key role in developing every pupil’s potential. Sports are coached to a very high level while providing for, and encouraging, those for whom participation rather than excellence is important. Major sports are rowing, rugby, netball, football, cricket, athletics, tennis and lacrosse. Other sports include golf, squash, cross country, climbing, weight training, and archery.
We offer an excellent salary and benefits package, dependent on qualifications and experience.
