Job overview
Our graduate sports assistants at Emanuel are an integral part of our PE and sports team. They work across the full range of our sports offering to ensure that every pupil benefits – from supporting participation in PE lessons through to coaching high ability teams and individuals.
For September 2022, we will be looking for up to three candidates with a variety of specialisms including rugby, football, cricket, netball, and hockey. As well as the skills and experience gained through playing and coaching one or more of these sports, we will be looking for the enthusiasm and drive to ensure every pupil is developing in our PE lessons and co-curricular programmes. The right candidates will have strong communication skills with the confidence to work with children in a trusted role.
Candidates applying for our graduate sports assistant roles may be interested in a future teaching career – these individuals will find a range of opportunities to develop their skills and experience during their year at Emanuel.

Welcome to Emanuel. We are a fully co-ed school of over 1000 pupils, aged 10-18, with over 200 teaching and support staff colleagues.
We are an ambitious community. This summer, 87% of grades at GCSE were awarded 9-7, which is a lift of 37% across recent years. Our A Level A*-A percentage is 53%. This is 20% higher than in 2018 and the school is now recognised as one of the best for academic outcomes in the country. The recent ISI Inspection report noted that: “Pupils make excellent progress across the range of subjects and significant value is added to their academic outcomes.”
We are committed to developing all our major sports and value pupil participation as well as team and individual achievement. The school’s critical build plan will see a significant investment in our on and off-site sports facilities across the next 3-4 years. The same site plan will support the outstanding creative and performing arts teaching at the school, as the school’s plans for a large specialist science teaching block will also allow us to improve our facilities for music and drama, both areas of traditional strength. We were delighted that these areas were recognised in last year’s Independent School of the Year Awards when we won the award for our performing arts.
Beyond the classroom, we have a thriving partnerships programme, helping to develop our pupils at all ages as they participate in this work, and benefiting the local community, with over 1000 primary school children coming to use our site and work with our pupils each month. In 2021 we won the Independent School of the Year Award for our community outreach work.
