Facilities

Emmaus College is a modern learning facility that offers its students high-quality learning environments. The college boasts a broad range of subjects within the formal curriculum and its co-curricular programs. First-class resources are available for a range of sports, including rugby league, netball, equestrian, soccer and basketball.

Curriculum

Staff at Emmaus College devise their curriculum for each of the four phases of learning that comprise the student body, in a framework which is aligned with ACARA and the Australian Curriculum.

Within the early years, the curriculum supports students as they begin to develop independence, work towards challenges and learn to collaborate with others, while in the junior years it encourages active engagement in a challenging and supportive learning environment.  The middle years curriculum prioritises a respectful and engaging learning environment that recognises the various stages of spiritual, personal and cognitive development of young people.

In Year 10 priority is given to the transition from the middle to the senior phase of schooling and to help each individual student realise his or her potential, providing a challenging and diverse learning experience that serves as an introduction to the range of pathways students can take in Years 11 and 12.

The continuation of senior studies into Year 11 is marked by a greater independence and the ability to more freely choose subjects in which students hold particular aptitude, interest and ability.

The curriculum for Year 12 offers further opportunity for students to consolidate learning and explore opportunities for attaining the Queensland Certificate of Education and subsequently gaining an apprenticeship, traineeship, employment or preparing for further studies.

School ethos

Emmaus College is a school where partnerships operate in a Christian Education Community which is faith centred and welcoming and where those entrusted with the education of the students, teach them how to join the discoveries of human wisdom and the truth of the Gospel, so that they will be able to develop a healthy spirituality and lead faith filled lives.
