Elsley Primary School is a popular, values-led, primary school for three- to 11-year-olds located in Wembley, close to the iconic stadium. As a large, four-form-entry school, extensive opportunities are available for staff development.

The school is proud of the staff and children's diverse backgrounds, coming together with an atmosphere of respect for each other.

Close to the hustle and bustle of Wembley, the school provides a beautiful contrast, situated in a quiet residential setting, at the end of a large playing field. The school has its own farm as well as two large playgrounds, a Multi Use Games Area (MUGA), a wildlife area, and pleasant, well-maintained gardens.

Values and vision

Elsley Primary School’s four main values are: learning, sharing, achieving and respecting. The school believes that learning is a lifelong process of self-improvement and active growth. Teachers aim to develop pupils’ potential, setting them on their way to becoming confident children and then adults.

Elsley Primary School seeks to nurture creativity and develop independence, while teaching pupils to share and recognise the value of giving. It encourages high aspirations in its pupils, and aims to build students’ self-esteem. It also wants children to celebrate each others’ similarities and differences, take pride in themselves and display good manners.

Ofsted report

Pupils are firmly at the centre of the school’s community.

Pupils behave well during lessons, at breaktimes and lunchtimes and as they move around the school. The school is a well-ordered community where staff and pupils go about their work purposefully. They get along well with each other, acting responsibly and cooperatively.

Pupils’ wider development is a strength of the school. The school’s approach to diversity encourages pupils to value each other as individuals and celebrate differences. One pupil expressed the views of many by explaining, ‘School helps us to be proud of who we are.’

Staff speak very highly about the way leaders make them feel valued and consider their workload. Leaders have taken steps to reduce workload by making sure that all the information they ask teachers to collect is useful in tracking and supporting pupils’ progress. Staff at all stages of their careers appreciate the high priority leaders give to professional training. They know that leaders will listen to any concerns they have. Teamwork is a strength in the school and enables staff to have opportunities to discuss and share their own learning.
